Find Community with Local Links PNW

Clark County, Washington

Vancouver Tool Library

Need a tool? Borrow one! Just like a library lets you check out books, a Tool library lets you borrow tools.

Save money and space by borrowing tools instead of buying them.

Tool libraries are completely volunteer-run and we are always looking for more volunteers.

This project now has it’s own Website. Patterned after the Portland Tool Libraries.

Vancouver Bike Bus

A Bike Bus aims to make biking – and riding any other “wheels” – to school fun and safe for kids! Each month, groups of students with trained volunteers will ride to school together down a pre-determined route. This is a great way for kids to make new friends, build confidence, and a way to get them back outside again! Biking helps cut down vehicular traffic and pollution, both of which our community can only benefit from.

Update 11/2025: Cycle Vancouver, City of Vancouver’s SafeRoutes, Vancouver Public Schools, Hough Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, and Local Links have partnered to bring this to our community in 2026!

Patterned after the PDX Bike Bus.

Support Squads

Sometimes you just need a space to talk with people who get it! Peer support squads are about listening, sharing, and not having to go through things alone. These squads are designed to be ran by the community, for the community, and sustain long after Local Links support.

These are not therapeutic groups and anyone seeking professional support will be referred to local resources!

This project is currently in planning stages. If you have any ideas for groups that you want to see in the community, please fill out the community survey, here!

Platonic & Romantic Matchmaking

Officially kicking off in November 2025, Local Links hosted its first “Single Mingle” at a local taphouse! It was extremely successful and the hosts were asking if we would keep doing it!

Keep an eye out for more Local Links platonic and romantic meet ups in the future!

Affinity Pods

Every month, three themed “pods” will be available for self-selection that are based on shared interests. Local Links will schedule two meetups that participants can show up at (or not!!) to meet IRL and create a Signal chat for conversation in between!

Launching: January 2026

Community Events

Local Links hosted its first official Block Party in August 2025 in the Mountain View Neighborhood. After three months of planning, the block party was a major hit and hopefully will inspire you to throw one in your neighborhood as well!

If you would like Local Links to partner with you on creating a community event, please send us an email!

Vancouver Makerspace

We are trying to create a space where people can use tools and get knowledge to create new things.

Join our Discord to learn more.

Talk Tech Wednesdays

If you like chatting about Tech, come talk, learn, network, socialize with other techies. All levels, all interests as long as it’s technical. They sell Pizza, Beer, and even have Arcade games and Console games to play.

Next meeting is 6-8PM on Wednesday Jan 7th at Megabyte Orchard (10401 NE 4th plain blvd).  See the event on the Vancouver Makerspace Discord. No RSVP needed.

01

Why We Exist

We don’t need to wait for someone else to fix things for us. Empowerment means realizing that we already have what we need when we show up for each other! Local Links is about creating space where people feel supported, seen, and able to take action in their own lives and neighborhoods.

02

What We Do

We Empower – Empowerment means realizing that we already have what we need when we show up for each other!

We Educate – It’s about sharing what we know: skills, resources, and stories. So that we can all grow stronger together. From learning how to fix a bike, to navigating local systems (like Medicaid, DSHS, etc.) to understanding each other’s experiences, we keep learning accessible and connected to real life.

We Consult – We are in search of opportunities to help as many youth as possible. We approach and fund all those in need.

We Expose –  Local Links works to expose both the gaps in our community and the strengths that often go unnoticed. By connecting with new people and ideas, we break down isolation and open doors to possibilities that might not have been visible before.

We Strengthen – We run small-scale schools for the underprivileged children and youth of daily wage workers for a better future.

03

Our Mission

Helping communities build what they want to see, and what they need. Together, we can strengthen our connections, share what we have, and bring back a sense of belonging that lasts.
